Would you like to know more about why a stay at a Bella Beach vacation rental is the perfect choice for your girls’ weekend? In a word…location, location, location! Bella Beach is the perfect home base for exploring the Oregon Coast with your besties and puts you a short stroll or drive away from many local favorite attractions. We have compiled a shortlist of some popular (nearby!) things to see, eat and discover to help you start planning a memorable weekend:

  • Start your morning right with a strong cup of coffee. Grab the girls, and head to one of our favorite spots for a brew with a view – Left Coast Coffee. Enjoy stunning ocean views as you sip on a great crafted cup of coffee. Feeling like staying closer to home? Take a quick stroll to Café C’est La Vie, Bella Beach’s on-property café. Grab a cappuccino and some decadent French-style pastries to go and enjoy back on your front porch.

  • Spa or spot a spout. Enjoy a day of pampering at The Spa at Salishan. The stunning views and state of the art spa services will have you feeling refreshed and renewed. After your blissful spa stop, stroll through the Salishan Marketplace for a little shopping. We love popping into Unique & Knotty to see this cute boutique’s seasonal inventory. Looking for a little more action instead? Charter a whale-watching trip where you and your friends can spend a memorable day together marveling at these majestic mammals. There are lots of charters to choose from, but Dockside Charters, Inc. is great for larger groups.

  • Lunchtime! No trip to the Oregon Coast is complete without sampling some fresh seafood. Lucky for you, there is a plethora of great options! You cannot go wrong with a stop at Local Ocean. Enjoy the freshest of fresh seafood with views of the harbor, ocean, and mountains. They also serve several delicious vegetarian dishes, and will happily prefer a gluten-free dish upon request, so there is something for everyone! See a bottle of wine on the wine menu that you would like to try? They also offer 30% off bottles to go. Perfect for toasting to an amazing day back at your beautiful Bella Beach rental. Cheers! Clearwater is also a fantastic spot for a memorable meal with friends. Make sure and leave room for their table-side s’mores!

  • Explore Newport’s Historic Nye Beach. Nye Beach offers stunning views, easy beach access, boutique shops, and a vibrant art scene. Pick up a souvenir or keepsake at one of their many gift shops and discover local artists at numerous exhibitions around town. You can find works exhibited at the Newport Visual Arts Center, located at the Nye Beach Turnaround. All exhibits are free and open to the public. Also at the Turnaround, is the historic Yaquina Art Gallery and Gift Shop that occupies a former changing house for beach goers built in 1914, and the Newport Visual Arts Center (“VAC”) – a public art exhibition space.

  • Wine and dine at Tidal Raves. Enjoy dinner and a view with the girls at this stylish restaurant perched on an oceanside cliff. We love their decadent Dungeness crab mac and cheese (perfect for sharing!), pacific rockfish tacos, and king salmon, served seared or Cajun-style with stone ground mustard beurre blanc, risotto & fresh crab. The restaurant does not take reservations, but the view and food are worth the wait!

Meredith Lodging has an amazing selection of Bella Beach vacation rentals that can accommodate up to 19 guests. Many of our homes have private hot tubs, and some are pup-friendly, so your dog can join in on the fun, too!

Best Rainy Day Activities for Kids Around Lincoln City

As the last days of Summer are heading undeniably toward Fall, it’s a good time to revisit rainy day activities for kiddos on the Coast.  Lincoln City has tons of options, and we have rounded up our favorites below. September, October and November can be gorgeous months on the Oregon Coast – and an ideal time to visit Meredith Lodging vacation rentals! On the off-chance you find yourself in stormy weather, pack up the kids and check out these kid-approved Lincoln City outings!

Read’s Candy

It will not be a tough sell to talk the kiddos in to visiting a candy store – rain OR shine! Read’s Homemade Candies is a Lincoln City institution and one of the only places on the coast that still makes their taffy by hand, in-house.  The kids will love watching the candy being made and listening to the whir-of the wrapping machines. Read also has lots of coast classics for the grown-ups too – even Seafoam!

Prehistoric

Do you know a kid that is obsessed with all things dinosaur? A kid who likes rocks and uncovering treasure? Pretty sure we have just described every kiddo we know.  When the rain hits, head to Prehistoric for hours of education and fun. From the baby T-rex greeting you at the door, to the extensive collection of rare rocks and crystals, to the chance to crack your own geode and mine for precious gems – Prehistoric really is fun for everyone!  Your kids will love spending a few hours in this unforgettable space.

Old Line Lanes

Bowling is always a good rainy-day idea…and bowling with great food and drink is even better!  Visitors love the remodel the owners of Olde Line Lanes completed a couple years ago and many choose to spend time in this classic space during any kind of weather!  The food is great and grown-ups will appreciate the chance to have an adult beverage with their pizza. Everyone will love the chance to get their bowling game on in this cheerful and inviting location.

 Lincoln City Glass Center

Take the kiddos for an arts-based outing and visit the Lincoln City Glass Center – where everyone can create their own piece of blown glass, alongside the talented (and patient!) instructors. Make glass floats, paper weights, votive holders – and you even get to choose your own colors.  Kids love to create something new and thanks to the expert instruction that comes with this activity, you will love displaying the end result in your home, or sharing it as a gift. If you aren’t feeling in the mood to make something, consider just stopping by and watching others as they create their own personal works of art.

Oregon Coast Aquarium

Technically this outing involves a bit of a drive – but a drive to something fun can be a good thing!  Located just South of Lincoln City, the Oregon Coast Aquarium offers and world-class educational experience for curious kiddos.  See Otters, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Octopus, Puffins and hundreds of other marine species all in one award-winning place. The underwater walkways of the Open Sea exhibit will have your child’s eyes wide with wonder!

Game Over Arcade

With of 50+ arcade games and a myriad of pinball machines, Game Over is a gem when it come to rainy day activities on the Coast. Parents can partake in the action or can relax and take in some sports on the 10+ 70 inch TVs while the kids enjoy themselves. Top Tips for a Great Girls Weekend at Bella Beach

Bella Beach Resort by Meredith Lodging is a beautiful seaside resort tucked in just South of Lincoln City and North of Depoe Bay on the Oregon Coast. The neighborhood is woodsy and peaceful and offers dedicated beach access, charming community spaces, very little street traffic (thanks to all cars parking behind the homes) and lovely Nantucket-style homes with inviting front porches, many with ocean views and all within a few minutes stroll of the beach.

Stay with Meredith Lodging in Bella Beach and you and your guests are privy to a host of thoughtful amenities that will make your getaway feel even more luxurious. These amenities include:

– A fleet of Dutch-style cruiser bikes (available to check out with helmets and locks) in sizes for the whole family!

– A cozy community fire pit area, perfect for an evening glass of wine (or s’mores!) by the fire.

– A Kid’s Club with games and lawn games for everyone available for checkout from the on-property Meredith Lodging Amenities Office.

 – An on-property playground with basketball court

 – An inviting green space, with picnic benches for lunch outdoors

 – Coming soon…an on-property fitness center!

With all of these luxurious amenities and a variety of well-appointed homes to suit nearly any budget, Bella Beach is not only a great place for families to vacation, but an ideal spot for a Girls Weekend Getaway, too. We spent a recent weekend there with our besties and captured our top tips for making the most out of a gathering at Bella Beach.

1. Find the perfect home for your group! Keep in mind when looking at properties on BellaBeach.com that you can search by budget, number of bedrooms and bathrooms and find homes that are pup-friendly, too. Make sure there is a table big enough for the group to enjoy meals together and comfy couches and chairs for fireside catch-ups or TV/movie hangouts. We chose The Driftwood home for all of these reasons…and especially for that oceanfront deck! Visit BellaBeach.com or call our Reservations Team at 877.778.9055 and they can help you find the perfect home for your getaway.

2. Divide and conquer when it comes to dining! We have several amateur chefs in our group of girlfriends who couldn’t wait to get their cooking game on in the beautiful kitchen at The Driftwood. Before we arrived, we assigned breakfast to some, dinners to others and asked everyone to bring a few of their favorite snacks for the times in between. Pro tip: Do your shopping before you arrive so once you are all together you can just focus on enjoying each other’s company. We enjoyed great food and drink all weekend…and some even shared some fun family favorite recipes!

3. Make time for beach walks…as many as possible! Bella Beach sits above a stunning stretch of the Oregon Coast and offers a beautifully landscaped path to dedicated beach access. We couldn’t get enough and enjoyed beach walks in the morning and at night. A sunset stroll is always a winner!  All of that cool ocean air, those calming seas and soft sand provided the best backdrop for spending quality time together and giving everyone the chance to truly reset and feel recharged.

 4. Make sure to enjoy those Meredith Lodging Amenities! We loved checking out the bikes from Meredith Lodging and riding around the neighborhood, not to mention the fact that they made for some of our best photos all weekend. And that fire pit area is a dream!!! Having our feet in the sand while enjoying some wine around the fire? Yes, please! It felt like  our own private patio at a luxury resort. We also discovered that wine + s’mores are a perfect pairing! There also may have been a fairly competitive game of lawn jenga…but what happens in Bella Beach stays in Bella Beach.

 5. Discover cool beach towns right outside your door. We are the first to admit we had a hard time even thinking about leaving Bella Beach once we got there but decided to go explore nearby Depoe Bay and Newport. We had delicious morning coffee from Left Coast Coffee Roasters and then spent the day exploring the shops and beaches in these two seaside stops. We also found a new favorite lunch restaurant…The Clearwater in Newport, followed by an afternoon of wine tasting on Noble Estate’s outdoor bayview deck! We were so happy we got out of the house and discovered new favorites, made memories, and that it was all within an easy car ride from “home”.

And a few words about this home….it was a dream!!! We enjoyed our stay so much we all decided to add another night and have already booked for next year! From the comfortable gathering spaces, inspiring beach decor, chef’s kitchen, and comfy beds with luxury linens to the fact everyone had their own bedroom and almost everyone had their own bathroom, it truly was a perfect place to stay. Also that oceanfront hot tub and the gorgeous oceanfront deck made sunset-watching as easy and beautiful as it gets! We loved The Driftwood, and saw many other Bella Beach Resort homes that would have been great options, too.

Thanks to Meredith Lodging for helping us plan a great weekend! A beautiful home, great location, thoughtful amenities…we are already looking forward to our Bella Beach Girls Weekend next year and our next #staywithmeredith.

Top Five Favorite Family Activities at Bella Beach Resort by Meredith Lodging!

What is there to love about a family vacationat Bella Beach Resort? EVERYTHING! When you drive in to this peaceful, seaside community just South of Lincoln City, time starts to slow down. You breathe deeper, the sound of waves crashing becomes the soundtrack to your weekend and you can park the car and not drive again till you depart if you want to – there is plenty to keep you busy!

We love spending family weekends at Bella Beachfor that very reason – all of the fun we can have right outside our door or in short walking distance. Meredith Lodging has been hard at work this summer making Bella Beach even more enjoyable for visiting Guests and we were excited to check out their recent property improvements and added amenities…all of which made it even easier for our whole family to have fun! We have captured our “Favorite Five” family-friendly activities for you to keep in mind the next time you and your family visit this beautiful seaside resort and #staywithmeredith.

5. An on-property playground. The minute we arrive, the kids want to head to the playground and basketball court ASAP – and we do not mind one bit! This is a great place for kids to get the wiggles out after a car ride and also a great place for all of us to meet families and other kids visiting Bella Beach Resort. We pack our basketball and wall-ball every time we visit for this reason!

4. Community greenspace and picnic tables. One of our favorite places to eat when we visit Bella Beach Resort is…Bella Beach Resort. We love the ease (and cost-savings!) of packing a picnic to enjoy in the community greenspace. There is plenty of room for the kiddos and our pup to play (on-leash) and we love to avail ourselves of the picturesque picnic benches to settle in for lunch or dinner. We also love to sneak away to this spot for early morning coffee.

3. The New Community Firepit and Sand-deck (coming soon). Grab the kiddos for an evening s-mores session and sand and lawn games…every night! S’mores supplies can be purchased at the Meredith Lodging on-property office and sand toys and lawn games can be checked out, too. Parents can enjoy a drink by the fire and kiddos can play – a perfect pairing of summer fun for everyone.

2. The new fleet of Bella Beach Resort Dutch Cruiser bikes for the whole family! We love taking a ride around the neighborhood as a family and our kiddos would make laps around the neighborhood all day. Now it’s even easier for the whole family to cruise around, thanks to the Dutch-style cruiser bikes available to all Guests who book through Meredith Lodging. We love that we don’t have to bring our own bikes from home, and these beautiful cruisers with their wooden baskets made for a great family photo, too!

1. THE BEACH! While each member of our family has favorite things to do at Bella Beach Resort – the overall winner is easy for all of us – THAT BEACH! The beach is so accessible that we spend time there morning, afternoon and evening – and we have a hard time getting our kiddos to ever leave! We love everything about it…the walk down the beautifully landscaped and winding path, the dedicated private access to the beach and the miles – MILES! – of soft sand, clear blue sea and evening sunsets straight out of a travel magazine. The beach is the reason we visit Bella Beach Resort and we can never get enough of it!
